INSTRUCTION
We were introduced to the module and the projects on the first day of class. Because the project is to be done in groups, we were divided into Japan and non-Japan groups. We were also required to group with members of 6 which is from different semesters and courses. Since I belong in the Japan group, I will look for team members who are also in the Japan group, which are Er Xin Ru, Chua Hui Zhen, and Ng Wai Fren from BDCM, and Lee Wei Jun and Winnie Tan from BFDT.
The first project is a proposal, in which we must write a 200-word description defining and interpreting the theme of our fieldtrip, which is to Japan. We also needed ideas for activities related to the theme as well as aspects of Japanese culture. As a group, we began listing aspects of Japanese culture to see where we could gather information.
Following that, we began our group discussion and brainstorming of ideas. Then we discussed our findings and ideas then compiling them into a document. Here is the of the proposal, which is a rough draught of what we discussed in our first meeting.
After that, we finalise all of the information and put it into slides, which include ideas and information from our meeting. We assign two people to each of the three different topics, which is:
- Tea culture
- Japanese fashion
- Japanese cuisine - sushi making & history
- Idea 1 : Malaysian crossover Japanese
- Idea 2 : Type of sushi, Packaging Design
- Idea 3 : Sushi Custom
Next, we divide the 3 sushi ideas in 2 persons in one topic after received feedbacks and we are ready to work towards this topics with more deeper research and explorations.
Here is our new outcome with 3 different Ideas and Sketches about sushi and it also required 200 words of rational.
| Final Version Proposal : Sushi
Instead of focusing on the Sushi itself, Miss Anis's comments about combining packaging design and Sushi customs will be interesting. As a result, we will implement the ideas and feedback that have been provided.
After that, we were going to have a meeting to discuss where we wanted to go for our Data Collection in Tokyo. Here's how we intend to proceed: Tokyo Trip (6.2.2023 - 11.2.2023)
Day 1 (6.2.2023)

| DATA COLLECTION AFTER TOKYO
Here are our Slides of what we have did for our Data Collection in Tokyo for the 6 days, and here are our overall conclusion. We will incorporate Japanese patterns and elements of Japanese and sushi packaging into our final product based on the data collected. Using the collected data, we hope to create Malaysian packaging that incorporates Japanese packaging design elements such as patterns, different styles of packaging, materials used, and colours.
After received feedback, we decided to replace our main topic with something Malaysian-related, and here is what we think of that related and more focused topic.
- Packaging for Malaysia kuih with Batik Elements
- Combinations with Malaysia and Japan Elements

- branding - brand and maybe thank you cards/ branding collateral also work on the final A1 poster
